Ormolu Clocks

Ormolu is the process of applying gold-mercury amalgam (amalgam being the result of the gold-mercury mixture) to an object made out of bronze. This technique was used to make many things, especially clocks.

Every single one of these clocks has a somewhat dark story attached to them. It is said that most people who made this type of clock didn't live over their 40s due to the exposure to mercury. I now have appropriately named them The Clocks, OF DEATH!

It Demands a Sacrifice!

The night of April 14-15 a blood moon will be visible all around the world, especially North America. It will be a total lunar eclipse. During a blood moon the moon the moon will appear to be, yeah you guessed it, red. I've never really seen one, so I guess I'll make sure I don't miss it.

It looks kinda like this.

Alfred Nobel

A.K.A the Swedish chemist who invented dynamite, but he also invented the Nobel Prize. I know what you're thinking "How did he go from dynamite to something as honorable as a Noble Prize?" So I'll tell you. Alfred's brother Ludvig died while visiting Cannes. Mistakenly the newspapers in France published that it was Alfred who had died. "The Merchant of Death" was how they titled Alfred when he had "died". As you already guessed, Alfred was not pleased at how he will remembered.

When his time actually came, in his last will he established the Nobel Prizes to be awarded annually to anyone who deserved it. He spent most of his resources creating the first five Nobel Prizes.

Check out every Nobel Prize winner here.

And that's how the Nobel prize was made. I guess you can say his reputation just "blew up".

A child with three parents

A medical procedure that uses DNA from three people as a solution for genetic illnesses passed down through the mitochondria. Sounds neat huh? Well, for many people not so much. You see lots of people are not cool with genetically modifying babies, and for good reason. I'm not going to go deep in the details. If you want,  read some more here. I'll leave you with this. Do you think that this type of scientific research is hurtful or important to humanity?

Roller Coater, OF DEATH!

Yep, you heard me. This roller coaster is designed to take the souls of those willing to give it away to the heavens. I bet waiting in line must be pretty awkward. Nonetheless, I think we can say it was an original idea, but Is it a good one? Let me know what you think.

Heres an article on said coaster. Have fun!

New Year, New Stats.

So I decided to look up some stats about 2013 and I mostly found sport related stuff. While I was searching around I manage to stumble to this little thing:

Some stats about social media sites that caught my eye. Take a look at them and tell me what you think. Me personally, I think google is slowly taking over the internet.

The Sun disappeared, what now?

The Sun just vanished into oblivion. Eight minutes later we humans on Earth find out and the whole world panics. Then the Earth stops orbiting around the sun, because there is none. Our planet is now wondering through the empty void of nothingness that is space.

Do we all die?
Well, yeah. After two or three years without the Sun the surface of our planet would be too cold for us to live well enough. Only people that took shelter underground or in areas that are naturaly heated by the Earths' core would survive, but only for about fifteen to eighteen more years. By the time humans are extinct only microorganisms at the bottom of the ocean would be able to live. So you can say that until Earth is captured into an orbit by another star or it brutally crashes into something, it would just keep on going into outer space. Forever.

The more you know.

How much does a name affect a persons life?

I found this video about names and found it really interesting. When you look at the crazy names some people have, you'll be jaw-dropped. Other than that it discusses the effects that a name can have on someone and gives various examples.

While you watch it, think about what your life would be like if you had a name like those. Also, I would love to hear some crazy names.

Is the mind that powerful?

Many people have been known for being great magicians, but few have been remembered in history for having remarkable skills. I'm not talking about escape artits like Harry Houdini, but to psychics like Uri Geller. If you don't know about him, let me give you a short explanation about what he did.

The guy suposedly knew how to bend spoons with his mind. He was the one who made this trick famous. This art is known as psychokinesis.

My question is, Do you think it's real or just some cheap trick? James Randi would love if you explained yourself.

Rocks are not who they say they are.

Racetrack Playa, Death Valley California is most known for its mysterious sliding rocks. Yes, the rocks move and no one has ever seen them do so. Believe it or not, one of them was actually able to slide over 860ft. Lucky for us curiosity is a powerful thing, so a team of scientists went out to look for some answers. They concluded that winter ice flows and strong winter winds are the ones that caused the rocks movement over the years.
